VOCATIONAL SERVICE REPORT |
| The Rotary Club of Pudu organized a Vocational Service - Career Guidance Project entitled "Career Prospects in the Malaysian Armed Forces" at the Royal Military College (RMC) in Sg. Besi, Kuala Lumpur.
This Project is for the benefit of approximately 150 Interactors from 9 Interact Clubs sponsored by Rotary Club of Pudu, namely, the Interact Clubs of Victoria Institution, Methodist Boys School, Pudu English Girls School, SMK (P) Kuen Cheng, Bandaraya Girl Schools, SMK Confucian, SMK Dato' Onn, SMK Sri Sentosa and SMK Cheras. The objective of this project is to expose the participating students-Interactors, particularly, non-bumiputras, on various career prospects that the Malaysian Armed Forces has to offer. The visit to RMC is particularly meaningful for the participating students as 16th September 2006 is also the Armed Forces Day. The Interactors and Rotarians from Rotary Club of Pudu led by Organizing Chairman Past President Maj Gen (Ret'd) Dato Muslim Ayob and Club President Ken Ong were received by Lt Col Adam on behalf of the Commandant, Chief Instructor Major Ben Khalid and other officers and personnel of RMC.

| RMC held various programme for the benefit of the Interactors and Rotarians, such as briefing on the various career opportunities and educational program in the Malaysian Armed Forces, visit and tour of the KEMENTAH Bestari Education Programme and providing the Interactors and Rotarians with first hand experience in shooting / repelling and negotiating obstacles. They were also treated to a typical "budak boy" lunch routine.
The Project has created awareness in our community, particularly, our youths, on the various career prospects in the Malaysian Armed Forces. The project has indeed complimented our Government's efforts to encourage more non-bumiputras to join the uniformed services. |
