Dato Siva's Talk - 26 July 2004

PP VG Chandran introduced our speaker Dato Siva Subramaniam, an experienced Trade Unionist, who was to speak to us on the subject "Policies & Problems affecting the Teaching Profession". At the end of his talk, he was duly thanked by PP Kumar who presented him with a certificate of appreciation and a memento.

PESS Interact BOD Installation - 26 July, 2004

The Interact Club of Pudu English Secondary School had their intstallation on 26 July 2004. President KH and his Board members were there.

Career Opportunities in the Uniformed Services - 24 July, 2004

President KH Low reported that we had a successful outing at the RMAF Base on Saturday 24 July, 2004 held in conjunction with the Vocational Service project there. He congratulated the Orgainising Chairman, Rtn Sarky and Voc Svc Director, Rtn Philip Chan and their committee members for a job well done. We had some 200 participants with another 50 youths provided by the RMAF organisers. Th espeakers were all very eloquent and the youths could understand them well. Besides the talk, there was a rescue demonstration atf an aircraft crash and a visit to the RMAF Museum.

Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik Honoured - 19 July, 2004

PDG Dr Paul Lee read the citation for the Rotary Literacy Award in which he detailed the outstanding achievements of YAB Tun. He traced his educational progress as a student. He also mentioned his political advancements when he finally became the Minister of Transport until his retirement. His achievements in the field of education was truly amazing and PDG Dr Paul detailed his work in starting the Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman or UTAR and the Langkawi Project. He had been well recognised for his contributions and work and he was bestowed with many honours as a result.

With the citation completed, the President then invited our Honorary Member YB Dato Donald Lim to present the Rotary Literacy Award to Rotarian Extraordinaire YABhg Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik
In response to the citation and the Rotary Literacy Award, YAB Tun gave his thoughts on the educational aspects of his work.
