Annual Scholarship Awards
It was in 1971 when our Charter President, the late PP Douglas Fraser went to Australia to seek participation in this Scholarship programme to promote better understanding between Australians and Malaysians. He got overwhelming support from Rotarians and friends in Australia, such that to this day Australian Rotary Clubs are still donating to this programme as a WCS project "Sponsoring a Deserving Student."
To ensure that this unique programme is enduring, in 1987/88 the RC Pudu Charity Foundation was started for which a sum, raised through a Capitalised Fund is set aside solely for this Educational Support Awards programme.
Unfortunately details of amounts disbursed annually since 1971 are lost in history. However, we do have some details as from 1984 (see below).

CRITERIA OF EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT AWARD
The Rotary Club of Pudu Educational Support Award is given under the following conditions:
- Poor deserving students (especially those from large families) in secondary schools within the territorial limits of RC Pudu.
- The students must have good scholastic record and of good character.
- The students must not receive other forms of financial assistance.
- The money received by the students must be used for expenses in schools or for examination fees, books, uniforms, shoes, transportation or similar items over the next 12 months from the award date.
- The Educational Support Awards are made out in cheques in the name of the schools and are to be credited for the student awardees. Schools are required to give a statement of account to the Club as to how the money has been expended.
- Successful applicants are required to correspond with their respective donors by way of letters at least once every three months, with copies of such letters sent to the Chairman, RC Pudu Scholarship Committee.
- Non compliance with the above conditions may result in the withdrawal of the Educational Support Award.
- Previous year's awardees may apply for continuation of the Educational Support Award in the following year.
